Our History

Maplewood was formally organized November 11, 1962 with 79 members.

Maplewood is steeped in the Wesleyan tradition of service. The initial members gathered in the basement of the pastor’s house. Their goal was to make a difference in their community. This led them to build their first building to be used as a preschool and gathering place. They would not build a formal sanctuary until 1985.

The focus on mission continues today with the work of the United Methodist Women, and the congregation. The vision set for 2020 is “to be a welcoming & open place by spreading God’s love into our community”.

This means actively looking for ways to make a difference in our community by helping our neighbors, and continuing to provide a place for people to gather and experience the healing love of Christ.
